About Community Rising

Our founder and director, Carla Timmons, is passionate about helping those who need it most. Carla welcomed a close relative into her family home to assist with raising the child until she graduated from high school and went on to beauty college. Carla's family member went on to obtain her cosmetologist license and owns a salon. Studies show that 1 in 2 foster care alumni report that they were not equipped for independent living due to lack or resources and support. Through our grants and assistance programs, we aim to provide support to these young adults as they transition into independent living. As a minority-owned non-profit organization, we understand the unique challenges and barriers that many individuals and families face.
